People have been coming to Friendly Falls for thousands of years. Our history goes back to the Cherokee Native Americans who used this area extensively as hunting grounds. The first white settlers came to the valley following the Revolutionary War. Stories of confederate gold being stashed near the falls date from the Civil War era.
In the 1920s the property was known as Cornpone, TN and we had a large lodge in our garden called “The Cascades Lodge” complete with a swimming pool fed from the creek. These photos are from 1959.
